Agnieszka Cieszanowska (she/they, 1996) is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of art, design, and social practice.
Her practice navigates the tension between the everyday and the uncanny, the explainable and the inexplicable -embracing a space of strange ordinariness. She focuses on analyzing aesthetic judgments and values shaped in the post-internet world, adopting a strongly material approach - her primary media include ceramics, textiles, and sound/voice. In her work, she draws on her experience as a designer- combining industrial techniques, craft, and new media - as well as her current role as an educator.
She holds a Master’s degree in Social Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven and a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she currently works as a lecturer.
Alongside her individual practice, she is actively engaged in cultural initiatives—co-creating and organizing events with FRINGE Warszawa, the texpol group, art-run (non)space, tajny stryszek, and the Radio Uziemienie collective, as well as being a member of the Civic Forum for Contemporary Art (OFSW).
Her works have been presented, among others, at: Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Fundacja Stefana Gierowskiego, Labirynt Gallery, Supermarket Art Fair (Stockholm), and BASE (Milan Design).
